Reviews Overview

Most Liked

One standout feature of Village Fish Bar is its consistently fantastic food. Diners rave about the crispy battered fish, with cod at both small and large sizes taking the spotlight. The chips are equally praised for their golden crunch and fluffy insides, making for the perfect pairing. Friendly and efficient staff elevate the experience, making each visit enjoyable. The charming casual vibe invites customers to linger a bit longer, perfect after a nice stroll along the nearby seaside. Many love it so much that they wish it were closer to home, underscoring the high regard in which it is held.

Conveniently, the place offers a kids' menu, ensuring younger patrons find something they adore, which appeals to families. It is also great to note that the venue is wheelchair accessible, allowing everyone to enjoy a classic fish and chip meal.

Most Disliked

Even with its many strengths, Village Fish Bar does face some criticisms. Because of its popularity, long wait times can be a drawback during peak hours. Diners might find themselves queuing for a table or their takeaway, which can dampen spirits for those in a hurry. However, many customers express that the quality of food is worth the wait. Additionally, while the menu features several fish options, those seeking a more extensive variety may find the offerings somewhat limited compared to larger chain restaurants.

Lastly, there are occasional mentions of greasy food. While most reviews praise the batter and cooking methods, just a few diners express concerns over the oiliness, particularly for those who prefer a lighter meal. However, this seems to be the exception rather than the norm.

This is my favorite local chippy! The food is consistently fantastic—truly fabulous every single time. What makes this place stand out is the incredible service. The staff are always so friendly and polite, and they're remarkably efficient. It's often very busy when I go, but they handle the rush with ease, so you're never waiting too long. Highly recommend it!

Went here yesterday for lunch whilst working round the corner. Food was exactly how it should be; fish already cooked and in the oven to reduce the grease, lovely batter, banging chips, and great curry sauce. Wish this was closer to home as it puts any chippy near me to shame. Will definitely have another lunch from here before my work nearby is finished.

A hidden gem… not from Gosport, but will definitely be visiting again on our next trip down! Both the service and food exceptional! The cod and chips were sooo good. The cost was fantastic for four of us and very unusual to feed a family at this great value! Cracking little fish and chip shop with loads of charm… 👌🏻👍🏻
